Manatee County deputies have determined, based on preliminary evidence, that the dead body located in a retention pond on Friday is Giovanni Pelletier.

According to MCSO, Pelletier's dead body was located at the southbound off-ramp of I-75 and SR-70.

The cause of death is still unknown

Here’s what we know so far from both the sheriff’s office and family members:

Pelletier, 18, was last seen on Friday, Aug. 1, according to family members.

Pelletier was vacationing with two cousins — on his father’s side — in Englewood before leaving around 1:30 a.m. Friday to visit more family members in Mims, according to the sheriff’s office.
