A Conservative Member of Parliament is urging Identity and Culture Minister Steven Guilbeault to apologize to U.S.-based Christian musician Sean Feucht. This call comes after permits for Feucht's recent concerts at venues managed by Parks Canada were revoked.

Marilyn Gladu, the Opposition critic for civil liberties, expressed her concerns in a letter dated Friday. She stated that the decision to deny the permits did not uphold the principle of inclusion. Instead, it excluded Feucht and many Canadians who intended to attend the concerts.

Feucht identifies as a musician, missionary, author, and activist. He has been vocal against what he terms "gender ideology," abortion, and the LGBTQ+ community. His views have drawn criticism but also gained attention from the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump. In 2020, Feucht ran unsuccessfully as a Republican candidate for Congress.

In her letter, Gladu emphasized that, regardless of differing opinions on Feucht's beliefs, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in Canada guarantees freedom of expression. She argued that the cancellation of the concerts contradicts this fundamental right.

Several concerts planned across Canada were abruptly canceled, forcing Feucht to find alternative venues to hold his events. The situation has sparked a debate about the balance between public policy and individual rights in the context of artistic expression.
