MIDTOWN, Manahttan (WABC) -- New York City is set to close the last hotel used to house migrants who crossed the southern U.S. border and were bused north.

The city will not renew the contract for the Row NYC Hotel on Eighth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The lease expires in April.

The Row was the first hotel used by the city to take in the migrants, who started arriving in the city in droves three years ago, after shelters reached capacity and the city looked for housing alternatives.

Mayor Eric Adams released a statement about the shelter closing saying that the city has "successfully helped more than 200,000 migrants leave the shelter system and take the next step toward self-sufficiency."
