STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Firefighters from around the five boroughs gathered outside Engine 157/Ladder 80 in Port Richmond to help the FDNY host a huge summer block party.

Hundreds of families, many with young children wearing the signature plastic FDNY helmets, enjoyed an afternoon full of various events.

A feast was prepared for over 1,000 guests who crowded Castleton Avenue on Saturday afternoon.

A DJ entertained the attendees with lively music, while an assortment of mini-games and inflatable bounce houses provided kids with plenty of fun. Firefighters engaged with members of the community they serve.

Across the street, several tents offered shelter for a caricature artist and provided freshly popped popcorn.
