PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Pine Bluff Police Department announced that an officer from the department was injured during a pursuit on Saturday, August 9.

According to PBPD, the unnamed officer was injured while attempting to conduct a traffic stop before the suspect allegedly fled the scene.

Authorities said that officer followed the suspect who had fled the area. During the pursuit, the suspect "made a sharp, high-speed turn at the intersection of Hutchinson Street and Dollarway Road.

From there, PBPD said that "the officer followed the suspect but swerved into a utility pole, totaling the patrol vehicle."

According to authorities, the officer was treated at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and is now at home recovering from what they described as "minor injuries."
