SWEET HOME, Ore. – A “Floatilla” was organized on Foster Lake on Aug. 9, as local residents protested the updated waterway access permit law, which requires people using water-crafts ten feet and under to have a permit starting the new year.

Gary Cummings is a Sweet Home local and he organized the protest after seeing the updated waterway access law.

“It's already hard enough for everybody to make ends meet,” Cummings said. “It's out of control. so, I decided, you know what, let's go for it, let's make a peaceful protest. I made the event and here we are.”

While around 200 people rsvp'd for the event, only about 50 showed up.

But that did not deter those who were there, as they were glad to see other people who oppose the waterway access permits attend the protest.
