Two Montgomery City Council members joined forces Saturday to help residents learn about crime prevention in the community.

District 2 Councilwoman Julie Beard and District 3 Councilwoman Marche Johnson hosted the Community Over Violence Expo & Resources, or COVER, at Garrett Coliseum.

People who attended received information on public safety from local law enforcement, school resources and various neighborhood associations.

In addition, residents were offered free health screenings, while the kids enjoyed bouncy houses and food from local vendors.

The Montgomery Humane Society was also on hand with pets available for adoption.
