Selma City Schools Superintendent Dr. David Scott is starting his first full school year leading the school system.

As classes began this morning, Scott paid a visit to schools across the city.

He says students and staff alike are excited and optimistic about the new school year.

“There’s a lot of work going into making sure there’s a great experience our first day. Just making sure our boys and girls know that we’re here for them. We have high expectations but we also want to make sure that they excel at every level. So, I’m looking forward to a great year,” Dr. Scott told Action 8 News.

Scott says the first day went well and the new year is getting off to a smooth start.

He took over as superintendent back in March.
