There was a lot of hesitation on whether to hold a public celebration of life for 91-year-old Cecile Marie Dionne.

Cecile Dionne (Langlois) died on July 28. She was 91.

There is only one Dionne Quintuplet still alive – Annette, who is currently living in Montreal.

“We were hesitant because those five girls and the entire Dionne family had a messy background,” said Sandy O’Grady, a member of the North Bay Dionne Quints Heritage Board.

After much discussion and debate the board felt they owed it to their community, and everyone who loved the family to remember.

Guests started to gather at the Dionne home, located in the North Bay Community Waterfront Park off Oak Street Saturday. There was live music, speaking and plenty of conversation.
