GLENWOOD -- When I told Thomas Kerbersky that I wanted to float the Caddo River above Glenwood, he leveled upon me a stern, slit-eyed glare.
It's a look that silently asks, "You know what you're getting into, don't you?" An outfitter only gives that look to a customer he knows and trusts. Were I a greenhorn, he would have turned me away.
"It's awfully low," said Kerbersky, owner of Lucky's Canoe Rental. "You'll be dragging the whole way."
"The fishing will be good, though," I chirped cheerfully.
"It sure ought to be," Kerbersky said, his demeanor lightening. That comment reminded him why I float the Caddo. "Ain't nobody fished up there in weeks."
Shortly after, a member of Lucky's staff drove me and my grandson Aiden Austin to Lucky's launch site at Caddo Gap. Kerbersky wasn't kidding
