Relatives of Israeli hostages held in Gaza on Sunday called on Israeli companies to strike next week to pressure the government to reverse its decision to take over Gaza City.

Lishay Miran-Lavi, the wife of hostage Omri Miran, pleaded with U.S. President Donald Trump and special envoy Steve Witkoff to bring an end to the war before more Israeli hostages and soldiers are killed.

"The decision to send the army deeper into Gaza is a danger to my husband, Omri. But we can still stop this disaster," she said at a news briefing in Tel Aviv.

Israel’s decision to take over Gaza City was met with resignation and defiance by Palestinians who have survived two years of war and repeated raids.

Many Israelis responded with fear and anger, worried it could be a death sentence for hostages held in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Friday that Israel would intensify its 22-month war with Hamas by taking over Gaza City, large parts of which have been destroyed by past bombardment and ground incursions.

Netanyahu says military pressure is key to achieving Israel’s war goals of returning all the hostages and destroying Hamas.

Hostages’ families pressured Netanyahu’s government amid new fears for the 50 remaining hostages, with 20 of them thought to be alive and struggling.
