Armed with brushes, palettes and spray cans, two artists are transforming E Street Alley in downtown San Bernardino with images paying tribute to the community.

Elide Sanchez and Maurice Howard are among six artists working to brighten up the alley as part of the city’s “Love Your Block” campaign. In April, the city awarded $18,000 in grants to 11 nonprofits and neighborhood and community groups to fund community-improvement projects.
