JD Vance’s 19-vehicle motorcade has thundered into the Cotswolds .

A helicopter accompanied the US vice-president’s entourage as he arrived in Oxfordshire after a two-night stay with David Lammy at Chevening, the Foreign Secretary’s grace-and-favour home in Kent.

The convoy stopped off for a private tour of Hampton Court Palace on Sunday morning before Henry VIII’s former residence opened its doors to the public. The palace is believed to have delayed its opening time to 12pm on Sunday to accommodate the visit.

The Vances will spend a few days at a Grade-II listed house in the midst of the “Chipping Norton set”.
