The family of Alex Eastwood, who died as a result of a head injury sustained in a kickboxing match, have urged for change.
Earlier this week, Stephen Eastwood and Nikita met with Lisa Nandy, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, at their home in Liverpool to discuss next steps for the sport.
Alex, from Fazakerly, Liverpool, collapsed following the third round of a "light contact" kickboxing fight against a 17-year-old at a gym in Platt Bridge, Wigan , on June 29, 2024.
He began kickboxing at the age of nine, trained five times a week at Hurricane Combat and Fitness club in Fazakerley, Liverpool, and experienced a "meteoric" rise in the sport, competing at high levels.
