Waits for practical driving tests are among the longest they have ever been. Recent data revealed how the average wait time for an appointment in the UK was 22.3 weeks.

It means learner drivers are forced to wait up to five months or more while still forking out for lessons or gamble it all and book a practical slot before they are ready just to secure a test appointment in advance.

The desperation of learners eager to take their test and get on the road in recent years has prompted broker-type sellers in WhatsApp channels to sell off last-minute appointments at hugely inflated prices.
