Officer, suspect injured after Monona theft and vehicle pursuit

MONONA, Wis. (WMTV) - A Monona Police officer and one of two suspects were injured in a theft investigation turned vehicle and foot pursuit. Both suspects were arrested for retail theft and additional referred charges.

Monona officers were assigned to a theft complaint around 8:00 p.m. Saturday, after a report from a retail establishment. Using a description of the individuals and a vehicle that fled the store, officials saw the car at a gas station nearby.

MOPD attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects fled, traveling eastbound on US 12, prompting a vehicle pursuit.

Additional agencies joined the chase, as Monona police followed the suspect vehicle into Cottage Grove. An assisting agency deployed tire deflation devices, which deflated the suspect’s tires.
