Hunter Greene expects to return to the mound this week as the Cincinnati Reds will reportedly activate the right-handed pitcher in time for a Wednesday start.

Greene, who has been out since June 4 with a strained right groin, is in line to start against visiting Philadelphia.

The 26-year-old missed two weeks in May with a Grade 1 groin strain. After returning from the 15-day injured list, Greene made three starts but was pulled again on June 3 after feeling discomfort. He underwent an MRI shortly thereafter, followed by a second one a month later “out of an abundance of caution,” according to Reds manager Terry Francona.

He has made three rehab starts for Triple-A Louisville, where he gave up 11 runs (nine earned) with 24 strikeouts across 11 innings. He also made a start for the Reds’
