Only the greatest pitchers in Major League history have reached 3,000 strikeouts.

The 3,000-K club got its newest member on July 2, 2025, when Clayton Kershaw became the 20th pitcher to record 3,000 strikeouts .

Pitching at Dodger Stadium in front of the only home crowd he’s ever known in the Majors, Kershaw’s 3,000th strikeout represented another milestone mark for a pitcher who is all but certain to be elected into the Hall of Fame when he’s finished.

Max Scherzer was the most recent pitcher to reach the milestone before Kershaw, recording his 3,000th career K in 2021. Justin Verlander, who joined the 3,000-K club in 2019, notched his 3,500th career strikeout on Aug. 10, '25.
