Shane van Gisbergen’s incredible rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series continued Sunday with another dominant performance — one that was both historic and deeply personal.

With his father, Robert, in attendance for the first time this year, van Gisbergen captured his fourth Cup Series victory, setting a new rookie record and cruising to another win at Watkins Glen International.

“It’s just amazing to have him here,” van Gisbergen said. “It’s been a tough year for Dad. He hasn’t been able to travel, so to share this with him is incredible.”
