ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A 3-year-old is recovering after a driver was arrested on a DUI charge for driving a car into a lake in Spalding County on Sunday, according to Georgia State Patrol.

According to GSP officials, the driver of an Acura was speeding while traveling west on Dundee Lake Road when the vehicle entered the Dundee Lake parking lot. From there, the driver “continued to travel west at a high rate of speed where the front of the Acura struck large boulders used as traffic barriers, the Acura vaulted into a grassy area then traveled into the lake where it was immersed,” according to officials.

As the vehicle went under, the driver climbed out and stood on top as the 3-year-old remained trapped inside, immersed in water, officials said.
