ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

Officials with Albuquerque Public Schools spoke about what steps they would take if immigration officials came on campus this school year.

The school district includes 143 schools. In January, President Donald Trump got rid of a policy from former President Joe Biden, which prevented immigration enforcement from raiding "protected" areas such as hospitals, churches and schools. Officials said there weren't any incidents last semester, but they are prepared.

"If that were to happen, the staff and principals at schools have been trained to call school police. That's one of the first things they're going to do is call school police. We're going to respond, we're going to review what documents that are being presented," said APS police Chief Steve Gallegos.
