One person has been confirmed dead in a weekend car wreck in Horry County.

The victim was killed Saturday in a single-vehicle wreck on U.S. 701 near Flossie Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Shortly before 5 a.m., a 2002 Nissan Altima traveling south on U.S. 701 ran off the road and struck a utility pole, killing the only person inside.

The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. No further details have been released.
