PATERSON — Montclair State University has joined the team of groups trying to build a new visitor center at the Great Falls national park, boosting hope among participants that the long-delayed project will finally make progress.

The university’s involvement may untangle the bureaucratic red tape that threatened to undermine the project’s latest funding plan — the use of New Jersey's Cultural and Arts Facilities Expansion tax credits, participants said.

By serving as “operator” of the visitor center, Montclair State would satisfy various government requirements that other entities involved in the project could not meet, participants said.
