The Sarnia Imperials had barely finished popping their bottles of sparkling wine Saturday when talk turned to a three-peat.

Players were looking ahead to next season after winning their second straight Ontario Power 5 Football League championship.

“Obviously, it’s a little early in the game to be thinking that way already, but I love the optimism,” Imperials head coach and president Andrew Barnes said.

The Imperials completed an undefeated season by beating the Burlington Longhorns 39-4 at Norm Perry Park.

Spencer Bollman threw two touchdown passes to Nick Mackenzie and also ran for two one-yard touchdowns.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Imperials found the end zone three times in the second for a 20-0 halftime lead.
