Sterling Heights City Councilwoman Deanna Koski said she’s mulling changes in her campaign strategy as candidates focus on the November general election in the state’s fourth largest city.
The longtime council member’s comments came one day after she finished seventh in the primary race for six council seats. With turnout a paltry 13.7% Koski and the other 11 candidates who advanced will have a chance to make their case to a larger field in November. Four years ago, Koski was the sixth vote getter, the final person elected, in a race that had a turnout of just under 20%.
“I think I’m going to host a fundraiser and stay up on my campaigning,” Koski said last week, after helping to cut a ceremonial ribbon for a public art installation at the fire department.
