VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — A tip from neighbors leads to the arrest of a man on warrants, along with Animal Cruelty and Neglect charges.

The Vanderburgh County Sherriff's Office says they were told Michael Scott Jr. was staying at a home in the 2200 block of Belmar Lane.

The VCSO says Scott Jr. had five active misdemeanor warrants for his arrest and one writ of attachment warrant for delinquent child support.

On Sunday, authorities say they arrived to the home and were greeted with a strong odor of urine and unsanitary living conditions.

We're told this included overflowing litter boxes, an abundance of insect activity, animal feces on the floor, and food scattered on countertops.

Deputies say Animal Control was notified a dog in the home was malnourished and in poor condition.
