(BCN) -- A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night in San Jose, police said.

The collision happened in the area of South King Road and Aldrich Way at 10:13 p.m., according to the San Jose Police Department. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later declared dead.

South King Road was closed in both directions from Barberry Lane to Nickel Avenue for the investigation. At 5:16 a.m. Monday, police announced the roadway was reopened.
