BATTLE CREEK — A house fire early on Grand Circle Avenue Aug. 9 claimed the life of one person, the Battle Creek Fire Department said in a release.

The victim was found inside the single-family home after firefighters arrived, shortly after 8:40 a.m. Saturday, and firefighters performed CPR at the scene. The individual was transported by LifeCare Ambulance for treatment, but "succumbed to their injuries at the scene," a release said.

The victim’s name, age, and other identifying details were withheld "out of respect for the family."

Two dogs also died in the fire, the fire department said.

"The City of Battle Creek and the Battle Creek Fire Department extend heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy," the release said.
