Two scooter riders were killed when they got into a crash involving five other vehicles on the Bronx River Parkway early Monday, police said.

A driver involved in the crash was taken into custody for suspected drunk driving, cops said. Charges were not immediately filed.

The motorized scooter riders, a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, were both ejected from their rides in the crash in the southbound lanes near Gun Hill Road about12:25 a.m., cops said.

The older man died at Montefiore Medical Center while the younger man was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center but could not be saved, cops said. Their names were not immediately released.

All the drivers involved stayed on the scene, police said. Cops are still sorting out the details of how the crash unfolded. Originally Published:
