Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson has spent the last 11 months, enduring the quiet tedium of rehab and recovery, knowing it was necessary to get him to this moment.

The road back is still not fully paved -- and won’t be complete until he takes the field in the regular season for the first time since tearing his Achilles in Week 2 of last year. But this week, Johnson will finally get to start showing off his progress as he has been cleared to come off the PUP list and return to practice.

And that’s a huge step toward having him on the field for Week 1 when the Jets host the Steelers, which has been the plan all along.
