ATLANTA — Public health workers and allies gathered Sunday at Piedmont Park to grieve and demand accountability after a gunman took aim at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday.
The shooting claimed the life of a responding DeKalb County police officer and left CDC employees shaken.
Dr. Elizabeth Soda works at the CDC and left the campus minutes before the gunfire.

“I broke down in tears, I probably cried for four or five hours that night, just trying to process how this happened, and what it’s going to mean for our agency moving forward," said Dr. Soda.
The rally, organized by groups including Fired But Fighting and CDC Alumni and Friends , fea
