Shoppers have expressed their sadness after the closure of a shop that opened in Long Eaton just under two years ago. Poundland replaced Wilko in The Beeches shopping parade after the north Nottinghamshire-based retailer went bust in 2023.

Ahead of the closure on August 10, shelves were virtually empty and remaining stock had up to 50 percent off. The unit has been advertised for rent for several weeks.

One shopper posted a message on Facebook saying: "I wanted to do an appreciation post for all the staff at Poundland as after only two years the store is sadly closing today. Every time I go in, which was regularly, they are always so polite and happy to help. Just want to wish them all the best of luck with their next adventure. Again thank you for the past two years."
