LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The City of Lufkin is moving forward with plans to improve recreational area, known as the Parks and Trails Master Plan.
“Here’s a plan, here’s an outline of what your community wants,” Buddy Timme, the parks and recreation director said.
He said it was a lengthy process of collecting information from the community and advisors. The city paired with Kendig Keast Collaborative, a Houston based company, to create the plan. More than 900 surveys later, it was determined the city should prioritize ten projects.
“Safety and maintenance upgrades in our parks whether it’s lightning, work on our trails, new playground equipment across the city. A lot of our equipment is outdated.”
Priority 1: Targeted lighting upgrades
Priority 2: Disc golf and pickleball courts competi
