Two Montrealers were sent to hospital on Sunday evening after being injured in a jet ski accident on the St. Lawrence River in Repentigny.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) responded to the accident at around 10:30 p.m. near Île au Bois Blanc. The driver of the personal watercraft, a 29-year-old man, and the 24-year-old female passenger, were reportedly traveling at high speed when they then hit a rock and were ejected from their vehicle.

“They were sent to two different hospitals for injuries, for fractures,” said Éloïse Cossette, a media relations officer for the SQ. “We feared for the man’s life at the start but finally he is ok.”

The SQ is investigating to understand the circumstances of the accident, and determine if alcohol was involved.
