OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — An energy storage company with a big footprint in Texas is eyeing West Michigan for its next project.

Key Capture Energy is working to construct a four-hour, 100-megawatt battery storage facility on 12 acres at 8284 88th Ave. in Blendon Township.

While KCE has not yet submitted a formal application for the development, the company in late July shared a site plan at a community open house for residents to learn more about the project.

KCE chose the location because of its ability to accommodate standalone battery storage. In addition to being located close to the existing transmission grid, there is an electric substation adjacent to the property, which makes it easier to connect to the existing system.
