The case of a Covington County resident who allegedly shot at some kids rolling his yard will be sent to a grand jury, officials said.
Sheriff Darrell Perkins said the official complaint was filed today by the parents of some teenagers who were rolling a yard in Covington County when the homeowner fired bird shot, minorly injuring them. The homeowner stated that he was 80 yards away.
No one had to be medically treated and the homeowner alleges that he just fired into the air, according to Perkins.
There have been phone conversations over the last week, Perkins said, and on Sunday he advised all parties involved to make an official report and get everybody’s statements. He said he had spoken with District Attorney Chris Hennis and they felt it was best to put it in front of 18-20 people
