The average gas price in metro Detroit was $3.21 a gallon, up 2 cents from a week ago.

Falling crude oil prices paved the way for falling gas prices in most states, but not Michigan.

Michigan gas prices rose, up 10 cents from a week ago, despite declines in demand and oil prices, according to AAA.

"Michigan motorists are seeing higher gas prices across the state," Adrienne Woodland, a spokeswoman for the auto club, said Monday, Aug. 11. "If demand continues to drop, pump prices may reverse course."
