ANDY REID has announced that Deon Bush will miss the entire upcoming season following a tear of his left Achilles tendon against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Kansas City Chiefs safety suffered the injury while attempting to accelerate away during their 20-17 loss to the Cards on Saturday.

It is a killer blow for the 31-year-old, who was looking to secure a spot on the roster for a fourth year in a row.

Reid said: "Bush is an Achilles. He has got to have surgery on it.

"He will get double checked here but I think we're looking at surgery there.

"It's too bad because he's really been playing well, great kid too."

Bush went down under no contact in the middle of the play, and appeared distraught as he was carted off the field.
