Raising a future heir to the British throne can’t be easy, but Kate Middleton is keeping it simple. The mom of three is reportedly focusing on one thing as she helps prepare her eldest son Prince George, 12, for his royal future, and, honestly, this makes so much sense for her.

Because Princess Kate is part of the royal family by marriage, she doesn’t have to necessarily teach George all the royal protocols like his dad will. Instead, she is reportedly just focusing on supporting and loving her son.

“She will never have a constitutional role, except as regent in a worst-case scenario, if George becomes king before age 18,” royal historian Marlene Koenig told Us Weekly. “She is there to be the loving, supportive mom in everything George does, because he is her son first and foremost.”
