Arizona’s three largest electric utilities shattered peak energy demand records last week as temperatures soared across the state.
Arizona Public Service Company, Salt River Project and Tucson Electric Power all exceeded their previous highs on Aug. 6 and Aug. 7 between 5 and 6 p.m., surpassing forecasts for 2025. Phoenix reached 117 degrees on Aug. 6 and 118 degrees on Aug. 7, while Tucson hit 111 and 112 degrees on those days. ×
