PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Bob Hope Schools in Southeast Texas opened their doors Monday for the first day of the 2025-26 academic year, implementing new Texas state laws requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in classrooms and prohibiting personal communication devices on campus. The charter school's high school campus in Port Arthur welcomed 577 students as Campus Director Robert Reid began his first year leading the campus.
"We are feeling excited. We're looking forward to our students coming through the doors and starting off this 25-26 academic school year," Reid told 12News Monday morning.
The school is among several in Southeast Texas starting classes Monday, including the Colmesneil and Warren school districts. Most other Southeast Texas districts will begin on Wednesday.
