Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta days after a gunman opened fire on the public health agency, according to news reports from Channel 2 Action News, citing ABC News.

Individuals with an organization called CDC Alumni and Friends also confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Kennedy was there Monday meeting with CDC Director Susan Monarez.

The shooter killed DeKalb County police Officer David Rose , who tried to stop him Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The GBI identified the gunman as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White of Kennesaw. He was found dead from apparent gunshots on the second floor of a CVS across the street from the CDC. Authorities could not say if his wounds were self-infl
