MISSOULA — The Montana and Montana State football teams combined to have seven players earn a total of eight spots on the Phil Steele FCS preseason All-America team.

The Griz had four players gain five selections, the most among all Big Sky Conference teams. UC Davis was second with four picks and MSU had three. No other league team had more than one honoree. North Dakota State of the MVFC led all teams with seven players recognized.

Montana's Michael Wortham, an Eastern Washington transfer, was a first-team all-purpose player and a second-team kick returner. Running back Eli Gillman made the second team. Linebacker Peyton Wing, who transferred from Portland State, got a spot on the third team, and linebacker Elijawah Tolbert, who transferred from Eastern Illinois, landed on the fourth t
