A driver died at a hospital after crashing a pickup truck into a tree on Dyer Street over the weekend in Northeast El Paso, a police spokesman said.

El Paso police traffic investigators suspect that alcohol may have been a factor in the single-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, on the 9500 block of Dyer Street at Sanders Avenue, stated a news release issued by police spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros on Monday.

Antonio De La Cruz, 44, of Central El Paso, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche on Dyer Street when he was stopped behind a car at the traffic light at the Sanders intersection, police reported.
