Nineteen people were stranded in the Cana Island parking lot for around seven hours, according to the Door County Maritime Museum, after fallen trees and power lines blocked off roads Aug. 9 following severe weather.

"Our staff evacuated people from the island and got them to the parking lot (and) into the garage for shelter. Everyone who was there was safe, but they were trapped because the roadway was just littered with so many downed trees and powerlines," Kevin Osgood, the president and CEO of the Door County Maritime Museum, told the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The group was stuck in the parking lot from around 4 to 11 p.m.

At around 10:15 p.m. Aug. 9, local firefighters had climbed through the trees to provide hot dogs and water to the stranded guests and staff. Baileys Harbor Fire
