STATEWIDE -- Secretary of State Shenna Bellows says a Justice Department request for the information of every Maine voter smacks of federal interference in our elections.

Bellows has sent a formal letter of response to the Justice Department questioning what she says is the overbroad scope of the request.

Bellows says the letter highlighted the steps Maine has taken to ensure free, safe and secure elections… including the modernization of systems to ensure Maine’s voter lists are as up to date as possible.
