A meeting in Britain between U.S. Vice President JD Vance, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and representatives from Kyiv made “significant progress” towards ending the war in Ukraine, according to a U.S. official.

During his trip to the United Kingdom, Vice President Vance held talks on Saturday with Ukrainian, European and British representatives at Chevening House, a 17th-century palatial house which serves as the countryside residence of the British foreign secretary in Kent, England.

Hosted by Foreign Secretary Lammy, the meeting was requested by Washington, according to sources familiar with the matter. A U.S. official said that the hours-long meetings made “significant progress” towards achieving President Donald Trump’s goal of bringing an end to the war between Russia and Ukrain
