A man from Eccles has been jailed for mistreating his elderly dogs who later had to be put down by the RSPCA.
Darren Millward, of Cardwell Road, Eccles , appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on July 28 where he pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and failing to ensure the welfare of another.
The court heard how RSPCA inspectors found 12-year-old brindle boxer cross Missy underweight and suffering from a large ulcerated tumour on her right flank which was oozing pus.
She also had two other untreated mammary masses and overgrown claws. Millward's other dog Blues, a Staffordshire bull terrier judged to be around 14, was severely uncoordinated, the RSPCA said.
