The price of silver SIU25 is up 35 per cent over the past 12 months, recently closing near US$38 per ounce and reaching almost US$40 per ounce three weeks ago. The all-time peak price for silver was US$49.45 per ounce, reached on January 18, 1980 during a squeeze by the Hunt brothers. That price fell by 50 per cent over the next four days, though.
