PHOENIX — The City of Phoenix is utilizing artificial intelligence to help answer the many non-emergency calls received by 911 dispatchers.
Vice Mayor Ann O'Brien recently announced the deployment of AI software to help screen non-emergency calls received by the city. When a person calls the Crime Stop number at 602-262-6151, the AI system will triage the call through a series of questions to determine where to redirect the caller to the resource the caller needs.
City officials said a caller will still have the option to speak to a dispatcher if they wish. And if the caller needs a police officer, they'll be directed to a 911 operator.
